About Kunal Mehra
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy what you find. I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest region of the USA and am grateful for all this place offers, photographically and otherwise.
My award-winning photographs have been featured as one of 25 finalists in Outdoor Photographer's American Landscape 2013 landscape contest and have been printed in publications like The Sun Magazine, Southwest Airlines' in-flight magazine and the Portland Japanese Garden's 2015 calendar.
Photography for me is a way to connect closely with what's around me. Whether that's observing the subtle shifts in light on a mossy log over the course of a minute or observing how the sun lights up different parts of a tree over the course of a year, I think the core of the photography experience is forming and maintaining a close connection with what enthralls you.
I once read a bumper sticker that said "Your Soul needs the Wild". I liked that a lot. If I may add a couple of other aspects to that, my 'mission statement' for my photographs would be something like: "I hope my photos help nourish your soul by providing it with something wild, beautiful and truthful'.
I also believe in supporting the local community where I live. 5% of profits from all photography sales will go to Street Roots, a local Portland-based organization that provides income opportunities for people experiencing homelessness and poverty, by producing a newspaper.
Thanks for reading.
