Description
An early morning autumn sunrise near the elephant canyon trailhead in Utah's Canyonlands National Park. This is located in the southeast part of the park - in the needles district - and owes its name to the colorful cedar mesa sandstone formations.
A long long time ago - 200 million years - this area was located on the edge of a sea that stretched all the way to what is now California. Floods from nearby mountains deposited red colored sediment, a photo of which you can now conveniently frame and hang in your living room.
