Description
Yes, it does happen, even in autumn. This photo was taken in Hoyt arboretum, Portland's famed museum of trees. The arboretum has over 6,000 trees in its 'collection'. Autumn is my favorite time to visit, especially on bright sunny days like this one.
The arboretum also has an interesting history: the land used to formerly house a 'poor farm' - the term used during the early 1900s to refer to a place where financially poor people could stay - called Multnomah county poor farm. Once the farm closed, the land was donated to the city and later on became part of what's now called Hoyt Arboretum.
