Description
An autumn sunrise along the Landscape arch trail in Utah's Arches National Park. The trail starts at the devils garden trailhead and is about 2 miles round-trip.
This photo was taken on a cold October morning. We were greeted by these amazing juniper trees. Juniper trees are among the hardiest ones around: they sometimes appear as if they're growing straight from the rocks - this is quite commonly observed in Arches and Canyonlands national parks; however, they have a strong and huge root system that goes deep and wide in search of water. Not surprisingly, juniper trees can live for as long as 700 years.
This trail leads to Landscape arch, the longest standing arch in the world!
