Description
A stormy autumn sunset at the Chaco Culture National Historical Park. This region of New Mexico was occupied by what's referred to as the Anasazi tribes and was occupied for over 300 years. It was a tight-knit community with kivas - structures used for ritual activities - being an important part of it.
When I went on a guided tour of the park, the ranger mentioned how archaeologists found pots full of cacao, which were likely traded from southern America, thousands of miles away. What an intriguing and thrilling time that must have been!
