A winter sunset on the Mesquite dunes in California's Death Valley National Park.
These dunes are a popular hiking spot, especially later in the afternoon when it isn't too hot and the colors start to warm up. The hike is deceptively harder than it might appear - walking uphill on sand takes a lot of energy!
The three hikers in the distance provide a sense of scale; these dunes, while they're not the largest in the park, can reach heights of 100 feet.
