Mesquite dunes in Death Valley National Park, California, photographed on a sunny February afternoon.
I visited the dunes one day prior to taking this photo and it was overcast and cloudy with no discernible shadows; it was sunny the next day and it was almost like being in a different place: the shadows were sharp and the sand took on a golden yellow color that got richer towards sunset. It was a joy to experience sunset at the dunes.
