The salmon wishes for blossoms as blossoms represent the cycle of life: arising from the earth in spring and returning back to the earth a few precious weeks later. The salmon also represents this circle of life - coming back to its birthing place and, after spawning and dying, nourishing the earth and the river in which it lays.
